Andrea Haynes-Peart

Andrea Haynes PeartAndrea Haynes Peart is a graduate of Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Majoring in Studio Art and Graphic Design, she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1988.

She has illustrated many books including the very popular “The Cat Woman" and the "Spinning Wheel” and “Sweet, Sweet Mango Tree and Other Stories” both by Diane Browne and Karl Phillpots.   

Peart has participated in many major exhibitions at The National Gallery between 1991 and 2008.

She has exhibited widely locally and abroad.

 Andrew P. Smith is a freelance photographer in Kingston, Jamaica, specializing in documenting social and environmental issues.

He has authored work in several publications including Jamaica: Absolutely (2010); Moods of Jamaica (2004);

A Tapestry of Jamaica: The Best of SkyWritings (2003); Guide to the Blue and John Crow Mountains (2008) and Insight Guide: Jamaica (2000).

Clients include The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), The British Council; Picture House Centre for Photography, (Leicester, England); the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica and Jamaica’s National Environment & Planning Agency (NEPA).

Andrew currently conducts workshops at Sanaa Studios and has lectured at Northern Caribbean University and the Edna Manley College of the Visual & Performing Arts.

Andrew holds a MA Photography from the University of Bolton, through its centre in Dalian, China and a B.Sc. in Geography from the University of the West Indies. He currently freelances for Reuters in Jamaica, is a former photography editor of The Gleaner newspaper and a three-term past president of the Photography Club of Jamaica.

Among Andrew’s awards are a highly commended award in the 2001 Commonwealth Photographic Competition and five awards in the 2003 Kodak Professional Caribbean Calendar Contest. Andrew participated in the 2009 Edna Manley College Faculty Show, the 2002 group exhibition, Private Thought, Public Spaces at the Mutual Gallery, Jamaica and was an exhibitor in the 2001 Mutual Gallery Under-40 Artist of the Year Competition. In 2002 he participated in the Liquid Light photography exchange and exhibition between Jamaica and England’s East Midlands.
