Devon Harvey - Drawing & Painting

Devon's journey began at the Grange Hill Primary School. After completing the early stages of his education there, he matriculated to Frome Technical High School, in Westmoreland. He pursued his tertiary education at the Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts formerly the Jamaica School of Art between 1980- 1984.

While at EMCVPA, he majored in painting and graduated with honors. Devon believes that strong family values are essential and such values depend on the participation and involvement of both parents in the lives of their children. This is conducive to the instilling of proper love.

Devon prefers to work with pastel medium but I work with oil and water colour as well. His style is called Curvilinear Rhythms, (Cloisonnism). The haloes in his work embellish the head of his figures. They are signals/ symbols of love and affection.

Devon believes that Art is continuous and that there is always something to be done. However, consistency, determination and persistency always assist an individual in the accomplishment of his goals.

Devon has proven to be a fine artist of Jamaican soil. Over the years he has proved is path to numerous exhibitions, both locally and overseas. Devon lives and works in Kingston.
