Prudence Lovell studied Painting at Kingston College of Art in England and Art Education at Manchester University. Her first ten years after Art School were spent on watercolours and culminated in two Solo Exhibitions at Bolivar Gallery and one at The Commonwealth Centre in London as well as a group exhibition at Spink, also in London.
Seven years followed in Holland where her work changed radically. She won three awards for her drawings out of a field of eleven hundred at the Haags Salon and became one of the youngest members of the Pulchri Studio in The Hague.
A return to the Caribbean brought another radical change in her work and in 1996 she was awarded Highly Commended at the Painting Biennale in Santo Domingo. Participation in several group shows continued over the next ten years, notably at The National Gallery of Jamaica and in the Cayman Islands as well as in Michigan.
Prudence Lovell has just completed ten years teaching in the Painting Department of the Edna Manley College.
